Academic Talent Honored With Early Career Award
ELECTRI International’s Program Review committee, chaired by Greg Long (Long Electric), evaluated 13 Early Career Award
proposals and selected three for presentation at the Council meeting in Toronto. The researcher applicants also had the opportunity to receive advice on their presentations from Professor Jerry Rounds, ELECTRI’s Academic Liaison.
The Council voted to commission two Early Career Awards for 2014:
- Using BIM to Conduct Feasibility Analysis of Pre-fab & Modularization
Rogelio Palomera-Arias, University of Texas at San Antonio
- Best Practices for Journeyman Transition to CW/CE Supervisor
Donna Hollar, East Carolina University
Each project will receive a $9,000 award from ELECTRI plus matching funds from the researcher’s home institution.
Introducing the 2014 Thomas E. Glavinich Fellow
In addition to the Early Career Award, the Council named Rogelio Palomera-Arias as the Thomas E. Glavinich Fellow for 2014 in honor of Thomas E. Glavinich, a much loved and respected researcher in the ELECTRI International community who passed away in April this year.
